gift economy

1 min read

I am experimenting with how to do this kind of work while making it accessible for everybody, sustaining my own financial needs and doing my bit to the collective healing of our relationship to money. for now i am offering all events in the spirit of gift economy, while trying to make my needs and the work i put into it transparent.

how to choose what you give: for some offerings I will make a sliding scale of suggested donation. if it feels overwhelming to choose, you can start somewhere in the middle of that. if that feels like a big stretch in your financial situation, go down until it feels good. If it feels cheap, go up until it feels generous. And know that paying more than your part allows other people who don’t have the means to pay what they are able to.

it might also be that you dont have much money to give, but have other things or skills i might need (for example applying for funds, designing PR material, taking pictures or organizing an event where you bring me in). I am always open for conversations about that.

there is no easy way to be with money, ceremony and doing the work that is important to us. this is an experiment, and thank you for engaging. I would always love to hear how it is for you. let’s continue the conversation.

the gift economy

thank you for joining this experiment in challenging capitalist ways.
